Montreal

Montreal is a city located in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is the second most populous city in Canada after Toronto and the largest French-speaking city in North America. Considered North America's original cycling city, Montreal continues to grow in popularity, and has become a model for how cities can promote cycling as a viable form of transportation. The city has an extensive network of bike lanes and paths that cover more than 850 kilometers. The bike lanes are generally well-marked and separated from car traffic, making them safe for cyclists. Montreal has a thriving cycling culture, with many cycling events and groups. The city hosts the Tour de l'Île, a large cycling event that takes place each year in June, and many community-led cycling groups organize regular rides throughout the city. Montreal's bike-sharing system, Lyft's BIXI, has over 6,200 bicycles at 540 stations throughout the city, making renting a bike for short trips around town easy.
